TURKPA delegation to conduct observations in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories

Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov met with the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), which is visiting our country to monitor the extraordinary presidential elections in the Azerbaijan Republic to be held on February 7, 2024, secki-2024.az reports.

Panahov greeted the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them in Azerbaijan.

The CEC chairman emphasized that for the first time in the history of independent Azerbaijan, elections will be held in all parts of the country: "I would like to express my special gratitude to you for conducting an observation mission in the territories liberated from occupation. I should note that more than 22,000 of our voters will vote in 26 polling stations in these territories. In addition, throughout the country 89,366 local observers have been registered to monitor the presidential elections.”

Chairman of TURKPA's International Relations and Law Commission, Osman Mastan, said that the organization has always performed the function of an observer in the elections held in the member states: "We will also conduct observations in the territories liberated from occupation, and we will hold a press conference on the results obtained on February 8. We believe that in Azerbaijan, which is a democratic country, the elections will be held professionally and transparently. We thank you for all the conditions you have created for us. May it be good for the people of Azerbaijan and the whole Turkic world."

Within the framework of the meeting, issues of mutual interest were also discussed and views were exchanged.
